Just east of the Downtown area and north of the airport is a side of town commonly referred to as East Orlando. Stretching from the edges of Winter Park and Oviedo to a section of town known as Wedgefield, this is one of the fastest growing areas in Central Florida. This is in part due to East Orlando’s vibrant college scene and its collection of institutes of higher learning. The University of Central Florida (UCF) is at the epicenter of this scene, accompanied by Valencia College, Rollins College, and Full Sail University. From University Blvd., to the Waterford Lakes Town Center, to the community of Avalon Park, there are plenty of places to eat, drink, shop, and have fun. The area is also booming with major tech companies and with the edition of Lake Nona Medical City, the East side has developed into great region to live, work, and play.
