Welcome to the City of Apopka!  On behalf of the City Council and staff, we invite you to explore our historic and vibrant city.

Incorporated in 1882, Apopka has grown into Orange County’s second largest city, with nearly 50,000 residents who enjoy our small-town atmosphere, our beautiful natural resources and our many outdoor recreation opportunities.  We invite you to take a closer look at what makes Apopka so special.

Come grow with us.  If you are considering moving to Apopka, you will find a variety of housing options – from apartments and townhomes to affordable single-family homes to estate homes – as well as an ISO 1-rated Fire Department.  Apopka also enjoys state-of-the-art schools with strong performing arts programs and a multitude of magnet options, including Medicine, Agriculture, Engineering and Culinary Arts.  And nowhere in Central Florida will you find more loyal and more spirited fans for high school athletics.  On any given Friday night in the fall, you will find packed stands at both Apopka and Wekiva high schools.

Come do business with us.  The future of Apopka is bright.  We are poised for growth with the scheduled 2021 completion of the Wekiva Parkway. At parkway’s intersection with Kelly Park Road, a major new commercial/residential/office community named Kelly Park Crossings is set to arise. On Apopka’s south side, the opening of the Marden Road Interchange on State Road 414 and the development of the new Florida Hospital Apopka campus will take place in 2017.  Additionally, Apopka has struck a deal with Taurus Southern Investments to develop a new City Center at the intersection of Orange Blossom Trail (U.S. 441) and State Road 436.  Guiding all of our effort is the recently completed Visioning Apopka 2025 Plan, which expresses the voice of our residents in guiding our future growth.

Come play with us.  Apopka boasts the 180-acre Northwest Recreation Complex, located on Jason Dwelley Boulevard in northwest Apopka.  The complex has 6 full-sized soccer fields, 4 multi-purpose fields, 2 lacrosse fields, 2 flag football fields, 6 baseball fields, 6 softball fields, 4 tennis courts, 3 basketball courts, 4 sand volleyball courts and 4 pavilions along with a .9 mile walking trail.  We regularly host tournaments from all over the country, including the regional 50/70 Little League tournament.  The complex is also home to the Apopka Amphitheater, site of the annual Old Florida Outdoor Festival, Apopka Art & Jazz Festival, and the City’s Fourth of July celebration.  The amphitheater is quickly becoming a favorite for concert promoters, having hosted Telemundo’s Festival Cinco de Mayo and acts like Travis Tritt and the Charlie Daniels Band.

Come explore with us.  The Apopka area boasts some of Florida’s natural wonders.  Only minutes from downtown Apopka, you can find Wekiwa Springs State Park, home of a second-magnitude spring where guests can swim or snorkel. You can also take an adventure on Wekiva River in a canoe or kayak or hike through the park’s many trails. West of downtown Apopka is the Lake Apopka North Shore, home to the greatest diversity of bird species of any inland area in North America. On the 11-mile Lake Apopka Wildlife Drive, visitors witness the restoration of marshland have the opportunity to see alligators, otters, foxes, panthers, osprey, and many other creatures.
