What is Tapas Yoga?
Yoga is an ancient practice that began in India over 5000 years ago and is the union of the mind, body, and soul. Yoga has 8 limbs/elements that serve as the prescription for moral ethics and self-discipline. Tapas yoga is the third principle of the second limb, Niyama, which places an emphasis on self-discipline and spiritual observances. Tapas is a Sanskrit word that translates into discipline, determination, commitment, passion, inner fire, and burning off impurities. Tapas yoga does not just cultivate the positive transformation of oneself physically, mentally, and emotionally, but it also encourages us to find the path of the truest self and to live a fulfilled and happy rewarding life.
